I would highly recommend Birgit
On April 2nd, 2023, I suffered multiple severe breaks to my tibia and fibula, shin bones, which were bad enough for me to require an operation and spend 4 days in the hospital. At the time of the injury, I was 15 years old so as a result I was still growing. This meant that my healing of the bones developed faster than normal.
3 weeks post operation I went to Birgit for my first physio appointment. During this first appointment there was an initial look at my leg and what muscles had weakened as a result of the injury. This was very helpful in the stages of my development as she was able to give me exercises to help bring back my strength in my left leg, specifically my ankle as I needed to increase the mobility of it to get back to walking. The exercises as previously mentioned were given by Birgit and were for me to complete at home. The exercises were very effective in helping my recovery progress advance quickly.
Another major thing that Birgit did in my treatment at around the 3rd session was help me realise what was in my head and what were the physical limits. This once again helped a substantial amount as the next stage for me was to be able to put a normal amount of pressure through my leg and then walk it. By telling me what was in my head and then showing me what was in my head by doing exercises during the session I was able to be more confident in my exercises at home without fear of me injuring myself. This in my opinion was the biggest stepping stone in my treatment as well as many others I am sure and something I believe that Birgit was very good at doing.
I was with Brigit for around six months and as time progressed the sessions became further spread apart as my muscles strengthened in my leg. Towards the end of the sessions Birgit advised me to go to the gym so that development in my legs can be more equal with the weight training. My last session with Birgit was in October 2023 where I finalised everything with me being able to run at a full sprint. Her final advice for my development was that I need to work on developing my hamstring s and calf muscles as those were the two weakest muscles in my leg at the time.
I would highly recommend Birgit if you are looking for rehabilitation of any kind as she is highly capable of healing you no matter what your situation is. One major reason why she was so effective for me was that she was able to show me that a lot of my limitations were just mental and that my body was perfectly capable of completing the exercises.

5star review
I had fractured my ankle and a week later went into hospital for unrelated surgery which kept me bed bound for a another 2 weeks, this led to a painful lower back, painkillers were not helping much so on searching the web for a local practice to Daventry I found Heartlands. Claire Todd was the physio who helped me both to understand the back pain, the causes and within a very short time eliminate the pain altogether. The ankle fracture required a bit more work to help recover properly and again within a very short time I was able to walk without the use of crutches and have been given exercise routine plans to help the ankle to strengthen and repair. Claire listened carefully to how I was feeling and was very supportive and encouraging.
I would happily recommend their services and would not hesitate to consult them first for any problems related to pain or problems relating to physical movement.
Thank you so much for all your help Claire.

Rehab
I had an Oxford Half Knee replacement on 26 Oct 2022 and have been working with Clare Todd on a weekly and now fortnightly basis. My muscles had wasted away pre op and I have needed to both rehabilitate the leg and build muscle. It is now 6 months on and I am back on a road bike, have played tennis several times and walked up a fell in the Lake District and my leg continues to strengthen. I am delighted with Clare’s professionalism and enthusiasm and only have the movement and renewed strength due to her work. I would happily recommend her as a first rate physio.

Thank you Claire
I wouldn’t be where I am today without Claire’s help.
I returned home from hospital after a serious operation for end of life care. I couldn’t get out of my hospital bed at home or even turn over without help from my carers let alone stand up.
With Claire showing me exercises with skill and patience, after 2 months painstaking practice I managed to stand for a while.
Slowly progressing from there, somehow I managed to walk a few steps and exercising my knees every day I got to walking outside. That led to sitting and getting up from a chair unaided. The next hurdle was to get upstairs which took about 3 weeks but I did it and was able to leave the hospital bed which was so uncomfortable but a necessity alas.
Next challenge was to get down and up from the toilet by myself and when I could do that, Claire’s work was accomplished. It took from September to the end of January to get to where I am now at the end of February when I did a 5 mile walk with the U3a group. I am no spring chicken being 74 years old. Thank you Claire, I couldn’t have done it without you.

It’s a miracle!
I have been seeing Birgit since the beginning of the year after sustaining a tibia plateau fracture and meniscus tear in a skiing accident.
My injury has come with a long recovery and it’s reassuring to know I have Birgit to help me along the way. She is incredibly knowledgable and has helped me to understand my injury and build trust in my knee again. When I first saw Birgit I couldn’t put weight through my leg, found it all quite scary, and had zero confidence! With her support and expertise, I’m now fully weight bearing and have started jogging on a treadmill. It’s a miracle!
I visit Heartlands Physiotherapy roughly every 3 weeks and drive a distance to be there because I would not consider going any where else. I’m where I am today, and going in the right direction thanks to Birgit. Can’t recommend enough.

6 months after the initial assessment I competed in the Spartan European Championships.
I came to see Birgit at the start of 2022. I compete in Obstacle Course Racing and since my last race of 2021 I had experienced pain in one shoulder. As the sport I compete in requires use of the shoulders I was concerned about this pain as it meant I couldn’t complete basic obstacles.
Birgit gave me a initial assessment then arranged for me to get a ultra sound scan so she knew exactly what the problem was. Turns out I had a tear in one of my shoulder tendons and other problems. Birgit was great explaining and showing me where the tear was and how it was causing me pain. She then set me a rehabilitation programme to strengthen the muscles of the shoulder. We had regular check ups with new exercises added after each check up. 6 months after the initial assessment I competed I’m the Spartan European Championships. I can’t thank Birgit enough for the help and advice she gave me. I would highly recommend Heartlands Physio to anyone in need.

10/10 – Highly Recommended
Claire has been my physiotherapist for the past 18 months following the dislocation of my
shoulder and subsequent stabilisation surgery. During this time Claire has been fantastic in her work, providing a quality of treatment one would be hard pressed to find anywhere else. She takes the time to not only understand one’s condition from a physical side but also a psychological side; fully engaging with one as a patient whilst explaining the underlying reason behind her treatment plans/recommendations. This has meant in my case that not only have I made a swift and strong recovery post-op, but I have also been able to overcome much of the anxiety around using my shoulder to its fullest thanks to her work.
I, therefore, would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone seeking physiotherapy for injuries/post-operation work such as my own.
…….Place to go
Big thanks to Birgit for saving my sanity following 12 weeks of non-weight bearing, due to a tibial plateau fracture and subsequent surgery. My situation was complicated in that I currently live in Slovakia and all rehab centres were closed due to Covid 19. Birgit stepped in with video consultations and great advice on how to get some strength and range of movement back into my knee. If you need physio then this is the place to go, the care received for this, and previous injuries has been excellent.
……..Excellent Physio
Heartlands is an excellent physio. Thoroughly recommend them.
Thank you again
I just wanted to take a moment to update you with my knee health and thank you again for the support you provided. I thought this update might benefit to the people in the same situation as me. I’ve been going to the gym since Feb’ this year and doing all sort of cardio and strength training. Also, I’ve started playing badminton twice in a week since August’ mid this year (a year after my surgery) and also started going to karate since 4 weeks back. So, everything seems to be good so far and I hope it stays the same way.
…Thank you so much Birgit
I can not recommend Heartlands Physiotherapy Clinic highly enough, I went in 3 weeks ago to see Birgit with an extremely painful foot, after the initial consultation Birgit diagnosed it as Plantar Faciitis, I had heard horror stories that this condition could take months to heal, I am a keen runner so this was not good news to me however after 3 weeks of valuable advise, support, my foot being taped and a stretching program I am now able to walk pain free and am even starting to run again (slowly) thank you so much Birgit.
…. I don’t think I could have recovered as quickly as I did without Birgit’s help
I’ve been taking physio sessions from Heartland therapy for over 6 months now to recover from my ACL ligament surgery (post and pre surgery). I found it very helpful and excellent value for money. All the therapist are very helpful, qualified and supportive. Specially, Birgit helped me a lot with my recovery – I don’t think I could have recovered as quickly as I did without her help. She’s very dynamic, energetic and quick thinker when providing therapy. In every session she’d ask you to try so many things to see what works and what not, and to evaluate your situation and treat accordingly. I think she genuinely put a lot of efforts in each session and I hats off her for that. Thank you so much again Heartlands Physiotherapy for all your help. I wish you guys all the best.
……new riding position feels great
The Bike fit was a great way to check I am not causing any long term problems, due to the wrong riding positions. Been out over the weekend, the new riding position feels great, and I managed to increased my average speed.
Strong and Injury Free !
One of the athletes I train has been going to see Claire over the last year and has managed to stay strong and injury free all year allowing him to take 4 seconds off his 800 metre running time this season. We are very thankful for her support!
…I had no hesitation in turning to Heartlands Physiotherapy!
Having previously been treated by Claire for a knee problem, when my wife needed rehabilitation after discharge from hospital following surgery to remove a brain tumour, I had no hesitation in turning to Heartlands Physiotherapy. Claire was very accommodating, initially treating my wife at home and then at the Daventry Clinic. The treatment throughout was caring and best of all, personal; both my wife and I really appreciated the thought put into her care. We would certainly recommend Heartlands Physiotherapy as the place to go; well worth travelling the extra mile, wherever you live. Google Review
…Back to full fitness!
Just want to thank you again for your help in getting me back to fitness.
Hockey training is now in full swing and I have played my first match last
weekend with no problems. Have also spent the summer riding daily and eventing.
…the best £40.00 I have spent.
I am just writing to say how grateful I am to Sarah for showing me the Active Cycle of Breathing Techniques and other exercises for my lungs. I have been struggling for many years and the hospital has never suggested these exercises, which help to keep the lungs clear.
I had a second appointment with her, in which she showed my husband how to do percussion, which will be very useful when I have a chest infection.
Sarah printed off leaflets from the internet for me, showing various exercises, she was very helpful and this helps me to keep my lungs a bit clearer of phlegm.
I would not hesitate to come back and see her. My first consultation was £40.00, and was the best £40.00 I have spent.
I would recommend anyone who is struggling with a lung condition to set aside some money for this, as a NHS referral takes quite a few weeks to come through, and with a chest condition you don’t have the luxury of being able to wait that long.
Thank you once again for your help.
…a fantastic practice!
Heartlands is a fantastic practice. Been treated there many times by both Physiotherapists. Would definitely recommend !
…thanks!
Thanks to Heartlands, my back is greatly improved
…back at work tomorrow
Good news for me! Starting back at work tomorrow, which is what Birgit and I were aiming for.
…thank you for all your efforts and support
Hi Birgit. it has just turned 2 years since I ruptured my Achilles. I completed my half marathon last week in 2 hours.
I would just like to thank you for all your efforts and support in getting me back into shape again. many thanks.
…you have been a lifeline!
Heartlands, you have been a lifeline! Your hard work on my (“inoperable”) shoulder has brought my arm back to life and restored full movement. More than I could have hoped for. I shall sing your praises.
Strength to your arm….. and mine!
